Radio Milles Collines: Broadcast Transcripts, April 1994

"You have to act. Do what we have always told you to. We must, all together, fight the Tutsi. We must finish with them, exterminate them, sweep them from the whole country. There must be no refuge for them. They must be exterminated. The graves are not yet full. Who is going to do the good work and help us fill them completely? All of you people who live in the hills, come and exterminate the Inyenzi. Cut them down with your machetes. Kill them all. Take your tools. The enemy is there. Do not let yourselves be fooled."

Radio Télévision Libre des Mille Collines (RTLM), broadcast transcripts, April 1994. RTLM was established in August 1993 with close links to the Hutu extremist movement. The word 'Inyenzi' means 'cockroach' and was used as a dehumanising term for Tutsi.
